Ever have the feeling that you have a monkey on your back?

I get that feeling all the time, only I have a chipmunky on my back!

I think I probably have the cutest chipmunky of anyone, and it hardly weighs anything. I can't even tell it's there, most of the time.

Unless someone is taking pictures of it on me.

It's also terrible that I have a kennel AND a honking big chair to lay in/on. They really adore me, you know.

PJ (Sonny calls him "the pest") came for a sleep over. HE got in bed with ME, then Sonny came up lookin' for some lovin'. I realized I had to go put away the chicken soup before I fell asleep too. These guys didn't even move. I had to pick PJ up and deposit him back on the bed so I could get up.

They didn't even follow me downstairs. Until they heard the soup pot banging around!

THEN (and I didn't see this. It's heresay, but from a reliable witness.) after I went back to bed (I was really, really tired) Sonny got up into his chair. The big red one. PJ stood and looked up at Sonny sleeping in that comfy chair. He then went over to the bag'o'bones on the floor and selected one of the best. He stood on the floor in front of Sonny with SONNY'S bone in his mouth. When Sonny didn't move, PJ jumped onto the chair with Sonny, deposited the bone, growled a few times, and jumped off. Sonny didn't even blink.

The witness thinks PJ was trying to barter a bone for the chair.

Didn't work.

PJ came back upstairs and got me...alone.

Who got the better bargain?

Grandma Moved In

I haven't written for a looonnngg time (that's a dachshund joke - a looonnnnggg time for a looonnnggg doggy) because I've been busy. My Grandma moved in with us!

There are her feet and there's PJ, and we are circling like the floor sharks we are. What is she eating?

Super Bowl Party

Daddy had his annual Super Bowl party so our house was invaded. Most of the people aren't strangers to me anymore, but I still get weirded out when there are lots of different people in my house. Using my comfy chairs. Eating my food. I finally got mommy to hold me at the table so I could see what I was smelling. Yum! All they would give me, tho', was carrots! Not the salami that was making my mouth water. Dang.

I even let Carolyn pick me up. Actually, I insisted she pick me up. I wouldn't leave her alone. She was sitting right by the shrimp. No one could believe that I would ask her to pick me up. I don't like anyone but my family to do that. Usually. But when there's food involved... Daniel knows just where to scratch me. Ahhh.

Finally. Everyone's gone and I can have my chair back! Good riddance. Except I do like people dropping food for me to grab up.

Mommy "lost" these pictures on her computer and found them just now. This is my favorite place to be in the morning after I have had breakfast and my potty time outside. I sit with Daddy while he does his Bible study and drinks his coffee. He keeps me warm, and I'm sure I keep him warm.

It's a dog's life.... Mommy's been so busy sewing, she is using a 4 year old picture of me. But it's still CUTE.

I am just too cute for my own good sometimes. When mommy has a little snack and sits in her chair, I jump up on Daddy's chair to get a better view. And sometimes mommy gives a little bite. Yum.

By the way, all those remote controls? They use two of them all the time, and the other two they really don't know why they have them, but leave them there anyway! Humans. Can't live with them, can't live without them.

And another side note: I have lost 2 1/2 pounds since May! Hot diggity dog!

Celebrations!

Grandma is 85 years old today! (August 7) She came over to my house to have Tiramisu Toffee Torte with me. I love Grandma.Even better, my sister came home! So we had a party to welcome Ruthie home and to celebrate Grandma's birthday. I just loved the attention. I adore Ruthie.
I adore Ruthie so much that I kept kissing her. And kissing and kissing. She said "yuck". I don't understand why!

She did not bring me a haori or anything! Oh well, I'm not used to wearing people clothes anyway.

Windmills

On our way home from "the Lake" last weekend, mommy made daddy stop and take pictures of the windmill farm near Clarion, Iowa. I see a lot of these when we travel in Iowa.

They are always slowing turning, turning, turning. And they make a pleasant whoosh noise. You can see the water standing in the fields. It has been flooding very badly all around Iowa and the big "pond" you see reflecting the windmills is actually a corn or soybean field, under water.
I like how daddy caught the sun setting behind the storm building up in the west. He takes very good pictures . . .
Even when they are mommy's idea! He got a lot of mosquito bites taking these photos, but he loves to please mommy.

The Lake

We went to The Lake last weekend. It was very full of water, and I couldn't run on the beach. There was no beach. But I did get to run. AND I got to relax. (click on the pictures to see me better!)

I sniffed around the water at the boat ramp. Those waves were scary!

And I had to get along with my cousin, Dodger.

I don't like him very much, but he left me alone, so we got along fine!

THEY'RE BACK!

There have been toads living in the well outside our basement window for years now. Every time Mommy says to me "Sonny let's go check out the toads" I know exactly where to go. I look and look, but there hasn't been anything there for a long time, not since last summer...

Until the water flowed into our basement the other day, and the leaves were cleaned out of the window well. NOW we can see the toads! What fun! What excitement! Mommy took this picture just before I jumped into the well! I just couldn't help myself!

It's not real deep, you can see the dirt in the picture of me looking in, but it was muddy. And guess what? Toads taste TERRIBLE. They made my mouth foam. Mommy didn't stop to take a picture of me IN the well because of the toads. She dropped the camera to save them from me, or me from them.
Here they are, hanging out in the corner.

I think the lighter one is the ring leader.

Mommy said that next time the toads look in the window, she will take a picture of them.

I'm just glad she didn't leave me in there!

Aaron brought home a lei from work. Someone had left it there, so he brought it home for me! He was careful put it on not too tight, and so that it didn't trip me. Don't I look pretty?

I didn't used to like Aaron when I was little. But he's one of my best friends, now. I think I just like adults better than children.

I got my nails clipped, and they are pretty! No injuries this time, either. Now, I just have to let Mommy clip the fur around my pads and nails to be really well groomed.

I really did not want to have Mommy take my picture, but I sat still for her anyway. Aren't I a good dog?

Mommy wants to take me to get me nails cut again. We are both a little scared. One time when mommy took me, my nails were very long because I wouldn't let her cut them. A big dog wanted to sniff me at the vet's and I went behind mommy's leg, and she stepped on my toe and off came most of my nail! The Doc had to pull the rest of it off. OUCH.

I was a good boy, though, and I didn't take my bandage off. See how short my other nails are though?

I sure hope nothing like that happens again!

Spring has finally come to Iowa! It's been a long time since I wanted to stay outside and play. Those flowers sure look yummy.
